After these past few weeks of online classes we wanted to celebrate our many successes! We would also like to thank you all for remaining flexible and for dancing with us through this difficult time apart.

First, we are loving our classes on Zoom. It has provided us with the ability to still have teachers hold classes. They can watch and correct our students through the app and continue to follow their lesson plan. Most importantly, we get to keep moving, remain active, and creative!

We are also excited to announce our YouTube page. There we have posted some general dance warmups for students to follow along with and other dance-related tutorials. For example, Mrs. Shelby posts a new stage-makeup tutorial every week!

See them all here!

Just this past week, our “Spring break,” we decided to hold classes since everyone is still at home. We also made classes even more fun! We created a “Spirit Week” with a different theme for the students to dress up in every day. My personal favorite was wear an old costume day.

Last Friday our amazing Company teachers, Mrs. Connie and Ms. Xavaire hosted a “Formal Night” for our company students. Since many of our students are now unable to go out on a Prom night or attend other school functions we created a fun online alternative. The students dressed up for a night “together.” Teachers and students got to see each other’s baby pictures and old dance photos, go on a scavenger hunt through their homes, and learn line dances.

We are always coming up with ways to make this a better experience for everyone and are so grateful for our JSDA Family. Keep Dancing!
